Non-monstromeme and Compet.

lol!I guess my “monstromeme” as Heather calls it, saturated you all. And since I haven't been posting much lately this “littlun” is giving me a good excuse to put my what-am-supposed-to-be-doing-at-this-moment-tasks aside.

Before I start my meme, here a compet. I want you to tell me who sings:

Don't be tempted by the shiny apple

Don't you eat of a bitter fruit

Hunger only for a taste of justice

Hunger only for a world of truth

'Cause all that you have is your soul”

The winner gets a ..... post card!!! Imagine that, a beautiful gorgeous Mauritian post card and a sample of the 8 sand colors of Chamarel a a porte-clé!!! how about that??? Am positive there'll be no winner! First good answer gets the prize.

Talking of postcards, where's mine J.Star???? :-)

Here goes the meme:

Three things that you wish you were good at but are either not good at all or just so-so.

  • Italian. I just love this language. I find it so pleasant to the ear. So musical. Am teaching myself and learning molto lentamente.

  • Heather, Salsa dancing! Mon Dieu how I love Salsa! To say that a couple of months ago I never would have dreamed of loving it so let alone learning it. My professor who isn't really a professor but a great dancer none the less is leaving for good. I'd be lost, this has become a drug. Its soooooooo classy!!!! I love flamenco too!

  • Saying NO. My problem is that I want to please. It wouldn't have been a problem if people didn't take advantage.

Three of your favorite songs to dance around in ya undapants to.

  • Hey Ladies (Destiny's Child) – I go wild!

  • Rock a Boat (Aaliyaah) – I ... huh... rock the boat?

  • Good Man (India Arie) – just close the eyes and sway.... in ma undapants :-)

The name of your favorite teacher, what grade, subject and WHY (can be a professor too).

Monsieur. That how we called him. I never knew his name. I had him from grade one to 3. In a little village called Say, 55 kilometers from Niamey the capital of Niger. He used to make these wonderful drawings on the blackboard and was such an actor. He'd mimic, make faces, imitate animals. He was wonderful and also he always cross at the other Monsieur (Taher was his name) with him I had Arabic classes and who made me share my sandwiches with him. You wouldn't believe this but when I was passed my Primary School Certificate, Monsieur Taher actually asked for my hand. My dad just laughed. I was almost ten. That's why I remember Monsieur Taher's name.

Mrs Jeetun. Form 4 to 5. She read my essay for the end of year exams and made copies to pass among all the teachers. She said I have a talent I should make use of. She lent me books, novels. Made me discover authors I'd never heard about before. She somehow helped me be the self-confident woman I am today.

Three things that you are inexplicably good at, for better or for worse.

  • Writing in English I think. I write well neither in French or Arabic though I have been raised bilingually.

  • Organization. Parties, workshops, conferences.

  • Teaching myself. I can count on one hand the number of times I've taken special lessons to learn something. Not having an I-know-it-all attitude must help since am yet to be dismissed when I ask or inquire about anything from others.

Your top 3 favorite breakfast cereals, if none, your idea of the perfect breakfast.

Am not a cereal person but Wheat-a-Bix I like from time to time. My idea of a perfect breakfast: Coffee, orange juice, Toast and egg.

Top three destinations, places you gotta see before you die and WHY.

  • Mekka. For pilgrimage. So many people joined together by faith. No discrimination. I'd love experiencing that. I mean the real thing. No one looking down on you. All equal. The rich, the lesser so, the white, the black, the red, the yellow; the humans, all converging towards one point.

  • Italy. I love Italians. They are so... alive. So bubbly and cheerful.

  • Greece. I hear the food id great there.

Name a huge turning point in your life, something that happened and after that everything was different. What was different? Why?

  • HUGE Turning point? Yet to come. Am at the cross roads of my life right now. Am in a situation where am stuck apart from minorities. I promise to tell you about THE HUGE turning point when it comes.

  • Realizing that I can handle any, ANY situation, humanly handleable. My mother went completely bananas when my father was assaulted. She leaned on me. I juggled studies and typist job more that a year, working after school every day and during week end and passing my High school Certificate with flying colors. Taking care of my family with my father gone for his business, his Doctorate d'etat while we're stranded on this island with no family apart ourselves. Keeping on a real smile even when it gets real hard. I believe am blessed.

I read something which worried me for days. It was this quote in a magazine which said (I translate): “The saddest people are the people who are always smiling.” I felt really sad.

On a scale of 1 to 10, are you a good kisser? Pursuant to this, does it matter? (what is your opinion)

Huh... The last time I kissed a guy I was what? 12. Yeah. Don't laugh and don't go all big eyes on me. Am hopeless. I don't date, I don't go out with interested guys. Call me old fashioned but I believe the boy-girl friend business is all a waste of time. Am waiting for my prince charmant to sweep me off my feet. I believe in someone being out there just for ME. Am keeping my eyes and ears (I have a thing for voices) open. I'll know when I meet him.

What is your best feature? Your worst? (intentionally vague here)

  • I listen well. People talk to me easily.

  • Am a good and loyal to people who are good to me. I value people and relationships.

  • Am generous and love wholeheartedly. Am coming to think that that's not a good feature to have nowadays.

Are you a night person or a morning person?
Night. I read, listen to music, think, write. During the night.

Fill in the blank: "There is nothing better than _______ after a long hard day of work."
Listening to mum telling me about her day went, taking a shower, dressing for bed, picking a book and curling up in bed.

Since you've tagged almost everybody I could think of, am tagging M and Cmhl (BTW Cmhl, your blog does not accept “anonymous comments” and since i don't have a blogspot account I can't comment, doesn't mean i ain't been reading you!)

2 - Oops, we double-tagged M. I didn't realize you had tagged her too. :)

I really am going to send you a postcard. The problem is that I need an airmail stamp and I just never get over to the post office, because I have this store of like ten million stamps (all non-airmail). I must stop being so lazy and go buy one! *apologies* (Comment this)

3 - I'm not familiar with those lyrics. Not a Tracy Chapman fan. But then again, how do we know M didn't google the lyrics? That's right, j'accuse!

I'm not familiar with wheat-a-bix, either. What is that?

Great food in Greece? Hm. They do have feta cheese.

6 - Fabulous quote Fitena! Have been doing a lot of coping and smiling lately, don't even really have problems I feel, till I go down in prayer and can't stop the tears --then i wonder where did they come from?

Ahh another tears confession to Fitena, lets keep it under our hats. Wink wink, great meme, Wheat a bix --they donthave it here i dont think. So toast and egg in mauritius too? Interesting!

Italian is very pretty and those Italian men, whew! I don't think they even make them unhandsome. But then I always been partial to any man swarthy. Gimme the guys with the big noses and black hair!

take care (Comment this)
